Meet our Electrician – Paul Messruther

Just five years after launching, Volta Compliance has a seven-strong team who are all immersed in our customer-oriented culture. A key member of that team is Paul Messruther, who joined in February 2019.

Join us in getting to know Paul, as we ask him a few questions about himself, his role and his career to date.

What does your job entail?

Sorting out Richard – ha! I’m a fully qualified electrician, so I work on all kinds of commercial and industrial installations.

What was your career before you started at Volta Compliance?

I’ve been an electrician my entire career (for over 20 years!), working on various new build construction sites including prisons and even Olympic facilities.

What’s the best thing about your job?

It’s simple. Starting a new job with a client and exceeding their expectations.

What did you want to be when you were little?

I wanted to be a Storm Chaser – getting paid to take pictures and videos of them.

What has been your favourite project to work on and why?

It has to be Bamburgh Castle. A listed building, a unique challenge, and some lovely views!

What three words would other members of the team use to describe you?

I love playing jokes on the lads on site, so one of them would definitely be annoying. Other than that, probably picky and obsessive.

Where do you see the company in five years’ time?

I’m confident we’ll carry on growing carefully. We’ll hopefully be able to double in size over the next five years, with regular work continuing to come in.

What do you get up to when you aren’t at work?

Anything and everything DIY. At the moment, I’m doing up the garage, but trying to have more days out with the family as well.
