After carrying out the EICR for the past 20 years, we identified increasing deterioration in the mains incoming distribution and switch gear over the last 3-5 years. This deterioration was first observed through visual inspection and later confirmed by diminishing insulation resistance test results. The main challenge was to fully complete, test, and operationally hand over the project within just 10 days from the start date.
Our approach involved removing the ageing mains incoming distribution and switch gear, with the new design and build provided by our partners at Benson Panels. The Volta team handled installation, commissioning, and initial verification, including the issuance of all relevant certification and documentation. We operated a 6-man team, working in two-man shifts on a 10-hour rotation, with a 1-hour handover between shifts-keeping the project running 24/7 over 10 days.
The mains incoming distribution and switch gear has been successfully replaced with a bespoke panel tailored to the site's needs. It now features modern protective devices that provide a higher and more reliable level of safety for both staff and visitors. The new equipment's guarantees offer peace of mind, and integrated energy monitoring now gives the trust real-time insight into energy usage-helping them make smarter decisions to reduce their carbon footprint and support environmental sustainability.
