The client wanted to expand their Manchester location by way of a new build to incorporate expanded storage facility, HGV access and new offices. The site had to incorporate access for HGV’s and for the employees offering loading bays, HGV turning circle, 24-hour operation, offices ground and 1st floor. The remit was to work independently directly for the client as the appointed mechanical and electrical contractor.
Specialist software was used to design the installation from an electrical point of view and whilst cross checking manually provides clear instruction on incoming supply, cable sizes and voltage drop.
Containment was designed and installed using a combination of cable tray & galvanised trunking & conduit. Industrial cabling was installed onto cable tray in steel wire armoured cable. The containment system included high level lighting busbar, trunking provided by Legrand UK.
Working closely with Gripple, who designed a containment system for the offices and warehousing facility. Tensioned catenary wire which supports the lighting busbar and associated LED technology is the latest technology available for this type of application and offers almost tool free installation the only tool required is a tensioner for the catenary wire.
Mains Incoming and Sub Main Distribution is metered to give the client insight into how they are using the electrical installation with regards to their energy usage. Pulsed output metering technology has been installed with access to an online portal whereby data is displayed and can be reviewed.
Electric Vehicle Charging has been installed to encourage EV usage and to assist employees to make that all important decision to help with the fight against climate change.
Emergency circuits in the form of Fire Systems & Emergency Lighting have been installed as required to ensure a safe working environment for employees and visitors to the building.
